A directory of my interests
What better to put on a hypertext website than some hyperlinks?! Here are a bunch of pages on other websites that I've saved and I want to share.
There are two good reasons for this: one, because I liked them or found them useful and I want to boost them; two, as articulated by lori, search engines and websites themselves are being cannibalised by AI and it's not so easy to find these pages anymore, so let's curate them ourselves! Link to resources, link to blogs, link to each others' sites, link to archived pages on the Wayback Machine, link to things that other people are already linking to!
Thus comes my effort. This icon indicates that the preceding link is to an archived copy. So far this list is incomplete.
If you want to find me somewhere else or just get in contact with me, have a look at this page.
Homepages
People's websites which I was inspired by or just thought looked cool, design-wise. Most are archive links because people like to change the appearance of their website for some reason.
Some simpler pages:
- leonardschuetz.ch - Minimal design that uses one colour and uses it well.
- bendersteed.tech - Good colours, very readable.
- cassidoo.co - Look at those link underlines! Very fun.
- knezevic.ch - I like the two-column layout and the information density.
And some more elaborate works:
- gildedware.neocities.org - I'm a sucker for the pixel font and the different theme colour on every page.
- iosion.neocities.org - The gif background and general aesthetic is great (and not unique to here, but this is the site I saw it on)
Web development
- developer.mozilla.org - On the off-chance that you don't already use it, browsing MDN is where I learned everything useful that I know about frontend web development. I like how it has accessibility and other concerns placed up-front in each article, where you can take it into account as you learn the thing.
Web games
Games you can only find on the internet.
- corru.observer - An excellent sci-fi point-and-click adventure that starts out exploring a website and eventually turns into an in-browser RPG. The world is mind-bogglingly deep!
Other web things
- web.badges.world - These 80x15px badges were in vogue around the time I was getting started on the internet. Here's almost 4000 web badges from their heyday! And I have one here.
- rewind.website - Generates an RSS feed which delivers you the back-episodes of a podcast over time, so you can listen to it from the beginning without binging it.
- v-fonts.com - Play with variable fonts by interactively changing their parameters and seeing how they look! And find new fonts to use (but many are not free).
